Opposition creates ruckus in the Uttarakhand assembly on Lokayukta issue
'But it's been about two years since that party (BJP) formed the government but the latter has kept the Lokayukta Bill in abeyance,' Hridayesh said. She demanded that a debate be urgently allowed in the House on the proposed Lokayukta law stating that it was an issue of utmost public importance. Speaker Premchand Aggrawal urged the Opposition members to let the Question Hour continue assuring that a debate on the Lokayukta Law would be allowed. Meanwhile, irate opposition members trooped into the well of the House raising slogans in favour of their demand. Congress president Pritam Singh joined them demanding that the Speaker cancel the Question Hour so that a debate on the proposed anti-graft law was possible. Hridayesh said even the ruling party members 'are hurt' that the BJP government was not enacting a strong Lokayukta Bill that the ruling party had promised before the last state elections. She alleged that the BJP government instead of fulfilling its promise referred the proposed anti-graft law to the select committee for no rhyme or reason just days after it took charge. 'It's been about two years since then and they have not called a meeting to discuss the Lokayukta Bill,' Hridayesh alleged. She alleged that the government instead 'claims' that such a law was not required, falsely claiming that it was vigorously pursuing its policy of zero tolerance for corruption. Hridayesh was referring to the statement frequently repeated by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. 'Instead this (BJP) government jailed those who exposed corruption through a sting operation,' Hridayesh said indirectly referring to an editor of a Dehradun-based TV channel. With the pressure mounting, the Speaker relented a bit stating that he would allow a debate under rule 58 after the Question Hour instead of allowing it under rule 310 as demanded by the Opposition. At his request, the Opposition members took their seats. Hridayesh stuck to her guns stating that the Question Hour was an important opportunity for carrying out a debate on the proposed anti-graft law. Reacting to the statement, parliamentary affairs minister Prakash Pant said a debate on the Lokayukta Bill was allowed every time the Opposition 'raises' a debate on the floor of the House. He urged Opposition members to let the Question Hour continue. 'Ignoring the Question Hour would set a bad precedent,' Pant said, adding that after the select committee had returned Lokaykta Bill the latter had become a property of the House. 'Consequently, whenever the House would wish it the anti-graft law would be passed,' he said. The request though had no impact on the irate Opposition members who kept on creating din. Meanwhile, BJP legislator Munna Singh Chauhan asked the Opposition members to cite one House rule that that permits them to decide when a particular Bill would be enacted. The statement ended up adding fuel to fire prompting all the irate Congress members to again troop into the well of the House. It is only after creating the ruckus for about half-an-hour that the irate Congress members agreed to the Speaker's request. Later, participating in the debate on the proposed anti-graft law both Hridayesh and Pritam Singh accused the BJP government of patronising corruption. 'This (BJP) government is not enacting the anti-graft law because it is fully immersed in corruption,' Singh said. Dailyhunthttps://www.mobypicture.com/user/dekkojekkos
Rajinikanth for legal action on Meketadu issue if Tamil Nadu doesn't get water
Earlier, responding to the BJP's electoral defeat in the five states, Mr. Rajinikanth said the poll outcome showed that the BJP has lost its popularity and has caused a major set back to it. Tamil Nadu has been opposing the balancing reservoir cum drinking water project at Mekedatu across the Cauvery river as it would affect Tamil Nadu's prospects. The government even initiated contempt proceedings against Karnataka government in the Supreme Court and had even sought a stay on all activities including preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the project. ... Google confirms Allo messaging app will shut down in March 2019
Allo was supposed to be a smarter messaging app, and came integrated with the Google Assistant as well. However earlier this year, Google had paused investment into the Allo app, and instead brought some of its features to Android Messages app, which included Smart Reply, GIFs, desktop support etc. In a blog post, Google said that "given Messages' continued momentum, we've decided to stop supporting Allo to focus on Messages." Allo will work only till March 2019, and until then users will be able to export all of the existing conversation history from the app. Google's help page notes that once Allo is no longer supported, which will be after March 2019, "All your Allo messages messages, including incognito messages, as well as your backups will be deleted. Until Allo is no longer supported, you can download your chats or media." Duo, the video-calling app has been much more successful and will continue to remain in existence. In fact, Google's partnerships with several handset makers in India, saw the Duo app being pre-loaded on to many phones in India. Google says Duo is "seeing strong growth and engagement across both Android and iOS." Duo now has the option to leave video messages as well. The blog post notes that the company will continue to offer more quality improvements based on machine learning for the Duo app. Finally, Hangouts Chat (which is the enterprise version of the original Hangouts app) will soon let customers include people from outside of their organisation in Chats. Google says Hangouts Chat and Meet (for video) "are primarily focused on team collaboration for G Suite customers and at some point will be made available for existing Hangouts users too." It has been reported that Google plans to shut down the Classic Hangouts app by 2020, though the company said no final date has been fixed for the same. Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav: Pandit Kabra urges young musicians to practise, maintain unique identity
Belonging to the Maihar-Senia Gharana, Kabra hails from an industrial family, which has also dedicated its life to music. After a training from his grandfather, Goverdhanlal Kabra, and his father, Damodarlal Kabra, he went on to learn music from Annapurna Devi. On the issue of westernisation of traditional music due to public pressure and changing interests, Kabra said one should stick to one's unique style of music and people would like it regardless. His uncle, Brijbhushan Kabra, started playing guitar, which was frowned upon initially. "But he still maintained his own style and played the songs of our Gharana on his guitar," he added. Speaking on Annapurna Devi, he said, "I was a big admirer of her brother, Ali Akbar Khan, and I tried mirroring his music style. But she asked me not to imitate him and added that if I played music like someone else, people will not want to listen to me. Music was worship for her and she asked us to perform with dedication, to learn from our own mistakes and to have a unique style of our own." Dailyhunthttps://forum.gekko.wizb.it/user-3465.html
Nandita Mahtani designs cartoon-inspired line, thrilled to face creative challenges
'This collection is an amalgamation of all things fun with exclusive elements designed in true Nandita Mahtani style. These creatively designed pieces feature pop-art and depict the iconic and widely popular Cartoon Network Originals series like the Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Dexter.' She said the capsule collection includes 40 versatile pieces which will be launched in the first quarter of 2019, followed by an affordable ready-to-wear line. 'Each of the silhouettes is a mix of playful elements that have come together through intricate hand embroidery, sequins, beads and embellishments in vibrant colours. As part of the collection, I have added silhouettes such as slip dresses and skirts. However, they also include fun and multi-purpose pieces such as bomber, zipper and denim jackets, sweatshirts,' said Mahtani. 'What's going to be different is that this will be the first time that I will be designing an exclusive range of kids' apparel followed by a men's collection that will launch in the latter part of 2019,' she added. The designer has made a mark in the resort wear segment and has also introduced some trends in evening cocktail and holiday wear. Her label Nandita Mahtani spells feminine styles that are easy to wear for today's woman. Is the association with Cartoon Network a step to broaden her horizon from just ramp designing? 'Well, for me, it's never just been fashion designing. It's the creative challenge that keeps me going be it for my label, styling projects or interior designing. 'Having completed multiple interior designing projects, to styling Virat (Kohli) for six years now and with my label completing 15 years in 2019 - I am absolutely thrilled that I wake up having to challenge my creative side every day,' said Mahtani. She is the first designer with whom Cartoon Network has associated in India. So what all aspects she has kept in mind while making this line? 'For this collection, the most important aspect that I kept in mind was to bring out the characteristics and appeal of each character rather than making them just look the part. I didn't want the pieces to end up looking like just another cartoon inspired collection. So, it was extremely important for me to add that fun element of each of the characters into the designing process. 'Another significant factor while designing this capsule collection was the audience we were targeting - the young adult females that are from 16 plus to 40 years. Given they grew up watching these cartoon characters, it was essential for me to create the feeling of nostalgia. I have paid immense attention to the strengths and weaknesses of each character and how they emote through their eyes. 'For me, it was absolutely vital that the wearer must enjoy and have fun in experimenting with the pieces and I am thrilled to see the output and only hope that women will enjoy wearing it as much as I enjoyed designing it,' said the designer. Apart from this association, Mahtani is currently looking forward to the 15-year celebrations of her label. 'I am also working towards the launch of the Spring Summer 2019 collection of my second brand Love Gen, whilst completing a few interior and styling projects,' said the designer. She finds it is extremely important for designers to explore different lifestyle spaces. 'Anything that has a creative element attached to it - I will take it up, similar to my career choices. Be it fashion, interiors or styling - my creativity is put to test daily which is what excites me. What's also amazing is that I have the opportunity of borrowing from each of my professions when it comes to inspiration - given they are co-related,' she said.
