Ranchi cops refuse to file FIR till you drop names ('PMO' helps)

o far, investigations have revealed that the criminals used four mobile numbers to dupe Minj, namely, 9382967594, 6291661466, 8918536632 and 9223390909.The first caller, using 8918536632, asked Minj to complete certain formalities for his new ATM card. He said he would receive an SMS which he would have to forward to another number. Soon after, Minj received a second call, this time from 6291661466, asking him to send an SMS to 9223390909."Then I received an SMS that Rs 50,000 had been withdrawn from my account. I received another SMS, saying an online purchase of Rs 9,999 had been made through Amazon. I received an OTP after that and at the same time someone called me from 9382967594. He wanted me to reveal the OTP which I refused as I had by then realised I was being cheated. I rushed to the branch but by then, I had lost another Rs 40,000," Minj said.Minj said he had no reason to doubt the callers initially as he had received a call from his branch a week back. "I received a genuine call from my branch. The bank officer asked me to come to the branch with my PAN and Aadhaar cards to update my account," he said. An old-time Ranchi resident, who was a victim of cyber fraud worth Rs 1 lakh, was made to do the rounds of four police stations over two days to file a complaint before the OC of Doranda finally agreed to lodge an FIR on Saturday by going over to his residence once it was known that he was a relative of someone working in the Prime Minister's Office. The ordeal of Oli Minj (53), who is an announcer at Akashvani-Ranchi, began Thursday when he inadvertently divulged information about his SBI account at Tupudana branch to callers who posed as authentic staff.Posing as SBI officials, the callers, using four different mobile numbers, told Minj that the bank was issuing him a new ATM card for which he needed to complete some formalities. They managed to get his UPI (unified payments interface) details and within an hour siphoned off Rs 1 lakh from his account. "Irrespective of my professional and family background, I believe the police should have registered my FIR. First, I visited the cyber police station and met DSP Yasodhara. But she asked me to go to Doranda police station, saying the cyber police station investigated fraud cases worth Rs 2 lakh or more," Minj said. When Minj visited Doranda police station Savitri Devi, a constable who was working as a munshi, refused to accept his FIR. "She did not allow me to meet the officer in-charge (OC), saying he was busy. I informed the cyber police station DSP who chided the policewoman over phone. But when I visited Doranda police station the next day, Savitri remained unhelpful," said Minj, adding that she then cited jurisdiction issues."She told me since my residence is under Jagannathpur police station, Doranda police station would not accept my FIR. But since I had received the phone call when I was in Sukhdeonagar police station area, I should visit either Jaggannathpur or Sukhdeonagar," he said, adding that he did visit the two police stations, but could not register his FIR. Infighting hurts coa's credibility

Appointment of coaches, handling of conflict of interest, sexual harassment charges and power to take decisions-there are many flashpoints that triggered an explosive e-mail from Edulji, where she accused Rai of ignoring her inputs. Rai has refrained from making public statements, but used the media tactfully to express his views. This conflict has caused happiness in sections of the BCCI, where members in the past did their bit to make CoA's life difficult. They are having a quiet chuckle, considering that each word in the Rai-Edulji crossfire is a blotch on their credibility. Guha's resignation questioning the CoA's manner of functioning caused a stir initially before dying down. The latest episode gives the BCCI officials fresh ammunition. Although the court's intervention looks inevitable at this stage, there is no clarity over when that would happen. It's also not certain that normalcy would return to the CoA after one hearing. This leaves the Board in an unprecedented limbo. There have already been several complaints about the structuring and conduct of domestic matches. The weird timing of the IPL auctions has also raised eyebrows. Rai and Edulji could not have chosen a worse time to make their differences public. Dailyhunthttps://anotepad.com/notes/hb3bet

Centre following 'maryada' on Ram temple issue: BJP

'Discussions on the issue are underway. People will not need to wait for this (resolution of the issue) till doomsday. We hope that the issue will be resolved soon,' the BJP leader added. Hussain said all options for a solution, from passing a law in Parliament to sorting it out through negotiations, were open before the Narendra Modi government. Speaking on the grenade attack on a religious congregation in Amritsar in Punjab, he pointed fingers at Pakistan. Three persons were Sunday killed and at least 10 injured in a grenade attack inside the Nirankari Bhavan at Adliwal village near Amritsar's Rajasansi, which is close to the international airport. 'It seems that after Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan is trying to promote terrorism in Punjab, but it will never succeed in its nefarious designs,' Hussain said on the attack. On Opposition allegation that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh had changed the names of cities for political gains, the party spokesperson said, 'Foreign invaders and the British changed the ancient names of our cities. We have done justice to our cultural heritage by reverting to the ancient names'. Asked about the alleged refusal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to wear a skullcap, Hussain shot back, 'The prime minister does not avoid anything. But first, this question should be answered--is a cap used for worship or political use?' PTI HWP ADU MAS BNM SRY Dailyhunthttps://www.vox.com/users/zwikkerjee

Rebuilding Kerala: State plans Rs 745-crore project with UN funding for lifting agri sector

According to Agriculture Minister VS Sunilkumar, the Agriculture Department has prepared a draft project to avail funding from the IFAD. As per the draft report, a project proposal of Rs 745 crore has been drafted with a contribution of Rs 500 crore from IFAD and the state would bear the remaining Rs 245 crore. The draft project will be submitted to a committee headed by the Chief Secretary and once they have vetted the proposal, a detailed project report will be drafted with the cooperation of technical experts from the UN body and it will be submitted to the Centre for final approval. A senior officer privy to the matter told Express, the state will also bargain with the agency before finalising the interest rate for the loan they offered. At present, they suggest an interest rate of 4 to 6 per cent which has to be cut down to 2 to 3 per cent. "No agency would help us charging zero per cent interest for the loan, but certainly it is good for the state in the long run as the project is conceived with the vision of developing the sector in five years," he said. The department is planning the development of horticulture sector along with coconut sector under the project. The project also comprises planning of integrated agriculture in homesteads, financial assistance to flood-hit farmers, projects for agriculture services, agriculture infrastructure development projects, agriculture production and warehousing models in homesteads, revival of existing markets, arranging capital investment for running the markets, empowering agriculture production meetings, human resource developments (agro-service centre and agriculture action force), sustainable agriculture development by encouraging rural innovations, and promoting crops suited for homesteads, etc.The flood damaged vegetables in around 10,859 ha in the state and the Horticulture Department and Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK) have also conceived a project to extend acreage under cultivation of various crops such as hybrid vegetables, jackfruit, mango, tissue culture banana, pineapple, banana, strawberry, ginger, and turmeric.
