ISL: FC Pune City get another win and revenge on Goa
Pune, meanwhile, have climbed to the seventh spot with their second consecutive win, and more importantly avenged their 2-4 hammering in Goa when interim coach Pradyum Reddy had just taken charge. Goa dominated possession in the early stages of the game as Pune willingly dropped deep and set themselves up for quick counters. Hugo Boumous initiated a good move in the 12th minute as he picked out Seriton Fernandes' run on the right flank. The full-back returned the favour with a cross into the centre but Boumous, who got on the end of it, sent his effort wide. Pune had an excellent chance to take the lead in the 17th minute when Iain Hume's long diagonal over the top for Marcelinho caught Goa's defence off-guard. Seriton tracked back and nicked the ball off the Brazilian with a last-ditch tackle. With the match turning out to be an end-to-end affair, Goa threatened again in the 22nd minute. Edu Bedia's lob allowed Brandon Fernandes to dribble into the box and force a good save from Kamaljit Singh. With three minutes left for the end of the first half, Mandar Rao Dessai's cut-back from the left found Ferran Corominas in the centre of the box and the forward laid the ball off for Edu to send a powerful effort that hit the crossbar. Goa pulled the strings again after the break but Pune had no plans to sit back despite Goa's dominance. In the 55th minute, Ashique Kuruniyan sneaked towards the byline and chipped a good cross for Nim Dorjee Tamang whose close-range header was parried away by Mohammad Nawaz. Ahmed Jahouh took it upon himself to take the Pune defence out of the equation with a swerving strike from outside the box in the 70th minute but Kamaljit produced an exceptional save to tip the ball away. A minute later, Mourtada Fall's failure to clear the ball allowed Marcelinho to dribble into the box at the other end but the Brazilian forward's shot was brilliantly saved by Nawaz. The Brazilian worked his magic to give Pune the lead in the 74th minute. Sarthak Golui's pass found Marcelinho in space outside the box and the latter unleashed a beautiful curling strike that kissed the back of the net. Jahouh hit the post with a similarly outstanding effort at the other end two minutes later as Goa sought an equaliser. Despite Goa pouring forward in attack, Pune held them off well and won a penalty late on when Marko Stankovic was held by Mohammed Ali. The midfielder stepped up and converted from 12 yards to seal a hard-fought victory for Pune City. Dailyhunthttp://doodleordie.com/profile/sreengreens
Gavaskar, Kapil sing N Srinivasan's praises
We keep producing stars and the Indian cricket fabric is strong. International cricket can't do without India,' said Srinivasan speaking at the launch of a coffee table book titled 'Defying the Paradigm N. Srinivasan: Fifty years of an extraordinary journey' Gavaskar said Srinivasan's contribution to cricket is unmatchable. 'He started so many welfare schemes for the players; like monthly pension. Even widows of former players are getting pensions and I don't think it's there in any other sport. I don't think the cricketing fraternity is ever going to forget this. It's an incredible evening and I wouldn't have missed it for anything in the world,' he said. Kapil said no one looks after the players better than Srinivasan. 'A lot of people have come into cricket administration, but only a few made an impact. Any cricketer who played for India would vouch for that,' he added. ... Stop party- dressing your food: Good looking food may be bad for your heart
But we are guilty of a certain herd mentality, which makes us perceive a rare commodity as superior as opposed to an everyday item. For eg; ingredients like organic raw cane sugar, which is compositionally 100% identical to regular sugar, is still just glucose and fructose, with little to no nutrients. Here are 5 things you need to be wary of before you begin to have them or advocate them to others Gluten-free junk food is still junk food: Gluten is a family of proteins found in grains like wheat. While a doctor may advise certain patients to stay away from it, most people tolerate gluten just fine. Unless under specific medical advice, you must know that gluten free food is likely to contain more fat than normal versions of the same food, and less fiber and protein, too. Hence, be careful what you choose. Sports drinks are designed with athletes in mind.: If you have a largely sedentary lifestyle, and go for the occasional run or work out, you don't need sports drinks. These drinks contain electrolytes (salts) and sugar, which can be useful for athletes in many cases. Most regular people don't need any additional salts, and they certainly have no need for liquid sugar. Make your own salad dressing: Many people use dressings to add flavour to their salads. But many salad dressings are actually loaded with unhealthy ingredients like sugar, vegetable oils and trans fats, along with a bunch of artificial chemicals. Although vegetables are good for you, eating them with a dressing high in harmful ingredients will totally negate any health benefit you will get from the salad. Make sure to check the ingredients list before you use a salad dressing... or make your own using healthy ingredients, such as honey and lemon. Margarine is not food: Margarine is an assembly of chemicals and refined oils that have been made to look and taste like food. The Framingham Heart Study showed that people who replace butter with margarine are actually more likely to suffer the consequences of heart disease. We must refrain from using foods that sound good. Choose your sweetener carefully: There's a new fad every season. You will find exotic sounding sweeteners placed alongside all sorts of "health foods," often with attractive claims on the packaging. Many of them are no better than sugar. For eg; whereas sugar is about 50 per cent fructose and High Fructose Corn Syrup about 55 per cent, Agave contains even more fructose; almost 70 per cent. To sum it up, just because something is rare and expensive, or a seasonal, non-native food, perceived as superior, it need not be healthier for you. When it comes to food, keep it simple. The article has been authored by Dr Vijay DSilva. Medical Director, Asian Heart Institute. ... Dailyhunthttps://www.plurk.com/heeeenkeeen

WhatsApp brings picture-in-picture (PiP) mode to all Android users
Through the latest Android version of WhatsApp, users will not be redirected to external pages, if they click on video links sent from YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram, among others. When a link from a third-party video link appears on WhatsApp, one can find the video card with a blurred version of the thumbnail image, as well as the platform logo. On tapping the link, the PiP mode makes the video played over the top half of the chat window, which users can choose to convert to full-screen viewing, while users can also operate the video timeline bar below, to scroll to or past different segments. While the Facebook-owned platform is expected to expand support across more platforms, major social media platforms have been included for PiP mode. Users can check for WhatsApp version 2.18.380 through the Google Play Store, or consider updating their app to use the same. This mode can be used for both individual chats and group chats, and is compatible across Android devices. WhatsApp has also been testing other new features for Android, such as an improved group calling interface. This will allow users to call up all members of a group call at the same time, instead of considering individually adding them to an existing call. This feature is already present on iOS, and could be rolled out soon. Also, WhatsApp is considering a Dark mode, like YouTube, to make night-time viewing easier.
