Country needs bulletproof jackets, not bullet train: Akhilesh Yadav

He said: 'The country has to face elections. At the same time, borders have to be secured. The government should say what all it is doing in this respect. The entire country is with the armed forces.' Yadav also attacked the BJP over its ongoing election campaign. He said: 'If all political parties have halted their campaigns, then why is the ruling BJP carrying out its campaign? The ruling party must stop it and think about how to secure the borders.' Earlier, Yadav had tweeted: 'Till when will the 3-day period of mourning keep getting extended? Every day we get news of the brave martyrdom of our jawans, while smiling BJP politicians accompany their funeral processions. Why is the govt waiting and watching?' Airlines set for growth flight Notwithstanding near term turbulence, rising air penetration rates, expanding middle class income and induction of fuel and cost efficient aircraft (15 per cent fuel savings) will enable profitable growth in coming years," the brokerage said in a note as it initiated coverage of the sector with a positive view.Lilladher analyst Paarth Gala pointed out India is the fastest growing aviation market with domestic passenger traffic showing a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 20 per cent over the past five years. "On the back of strong GDP growth, domestic air traffic is expected to grow at 17 per cent CAGR over 2018-24 as travelers shall increasingly prefer air travel on the back of increasing affordability and narrowing gap between air fares and rail fares."This coupled with the government's focus on stimulating regional traffic through the UDAN scheme shall encourage air travel to and from smaller towns and cities'', Gala said.Others, too, have views similar to Gala. Ronojoy Dutta, principal consultant at InterGlobe Aviation, which runs low-cost carrier IndiGo, spoke of the possibility of 18-22 per cent growth, much more than the conventional belief of growth at least twice a country's GDP."There is nothing that says the Indian economy won't continue to be one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. The second factor that comes into play is what they call the propensity to travel. developed countries are like 10 times higher than us in terms of the propensity to travel."So you have two factors working - a 7.5 per cent growth rate and a low propensity to travel, which gets higher and higher as people have more income," he said. 'They wanted me to pay Rs 60,000. Murders of 2 Congress workers in Kasargod rock Kerala

ripesh, a polytechnic student, died on the spot, his skull split by perhaps a single hit that caused an 11cm-long and 2cm-deep cut on the top of his head. There were wounds on his body and limbs too.Lal suffered 15 deep cuts all over his body and a deep wound on his forehead and died on the way to a hospital in neighbouring Mangalore in Karnataka. The nature of the injuries, the sources said, indicate the two were hacked with machetes, weapons regularly used by professional hit men.The state police headquarters confirmed that two men had been taken in for questioning. The police have sought the help of their Karnataka counterparts since the suspects appear to have fled to the neighbouring state that borders Kasargod.Sunday's attack on the two Youth Congress workers was the first in recent memory in Kasargod where violence has led to loss of lives. But Kannur, about 90km away, has for long been the hotbed of political violence in Kerala. The CBI had recently named CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan and MLA T.V. Rajesh, among others, in a case linked to the murder of Indian Union Muslim League worker Ariyil Abdul Shukur in 2012.More recently, 11 CPM workers were booked for the murder of Congress activist Shuhaib in Mattannur in March last year.Kerala state Congress president Mullapally Ramachandran, who visited the families of Kripesh and Lal, lashed out at chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPM's "murderous politics"."They (the victims' families) are farm labourers, and the CPM talks about their love for the labour class," he said."I request you (Vijayan, who is from Kannur) to get your party cadres to lay down arms and usher in peace. This is an opportunity for you to end the violence in Kannur and Kasargod," Ramachandran said.CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan promised suitable action if any party cadre were found to be involved with the murders."Our government is trying to maintain peace in the state. These murders will only weaken that initiative. Whatever may be the reason, such acts cannot be justified," he said. "The police are doing everything to bring all the culprits to justice." The Congress and its UDF allies called a shutdown in Kasargod but, by 9am on Monday, the protest had spread as state Youth Congress chief Dean Kuriakose called for a dawn-to-dusk shutdown across Kerala, disrupting normal life. The high court took up the shutdown on its own, saying it was in contempt of its January order not to call any without a seven-day notice. The order had come on a batch of petitions against frequent shutdowns. The court has summoned Kuriakose, Kasargod UDF chairman M.C. Kamruddin and convener A. Govindan Nair to appear before it on Friday. Dailyhunthttps://www.zintro.com/profile/zif5f90310?ref=Zif5f90310

Pakistan summons UN to 'defuse tensions' with India post Pulwama attack

The United States has told Pakistan to stop providing safe haven and support to terror outfits. The letter said that there exists a "threat of use of force against Pakistan by India". "The Pulwama attack on Indian Central Reserve Police Force was ostensibly and even by Indian accounts carried out by a Kashmiri resident of Indian Occupied Kashmir. Attributing it to Pakistan even before investigations is absurd," it claimed. The letter also asked Guterres to "consider asking India to refrain from further escalating the situation and enter into dialogue with Pakistan and the Kashmiris to calm the situation down". Condemning the Pulwama attack, Afghanistan had said it was a "copy-paste of what Pakistan-backed terror groups" did in their soil. "The heinous act of terror in Kashmir has all the hallmarks of a common source & sponsor of terrorism in our region. It is a copy paste of what Pakistan backed terror groups do in Afghanistan. We condemn the attack & convey our condolences to Indian people," Amrullah Saleh, the acting Minister of Interior of Afghanistan, had tweeted. India called its High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria, back to New Delhi for consultations - a move which was mirrored by Pakistan, who called back their High Commissioner to India, Sohail Mahmood on February 18, "for consultations". New Delhi issued a strong demarche to Islamabad in connection with the Pulwama attack, conveying that Pakistan must take immediate and verifiable actions against JeM, which operates from its soil. ... Mystic Mantra: The secret to harmonious relationships

They may each feel they are right and the other party is wrong, and will each try to make their case. When the other party does not come around or give in, anger surfaces. If we are unable to stay calm at this point, we end up saying or doing something hurtful to the other. This escalates and leads to retaliation. Soon, what began as a minor disagreement evolves into a fight over time, a long-term feud. The relationship then suffers. There is another ending to this story; one in which we maintain harmony within the relationship, and it all begins with the simple technique of meditation. It can help short-circuit the cycle of anger and retaliation and instead instil in us peace and harmony. Personal transformation through meditation: Meditation on the inner light and sound of God is a process whereby we take our attention away from the outer world and focus it within ourselves. As we do so, we begin to experience God's love that is within us. Bathed in this divine love, we gradually awaken to the reality that we are not the body, but at the core, are soul — a part of God. It is this part of God that enlivens the physical body. We also begin to see all living things, whether human, animal, or plant, as a part of God, with God's light shining in all. Embracing our oneness with all of God's creation, we undergo a profound transformation. As a result, we begin to develop love for all. This builds a bridge between people as we realise our commonality. Our hearts open, we develop tolerance and patience towards those around us. We become compassionate and understanding, and we seek to help those in need. We are inspired to utilise our talents for the good of humanity, and in whatever sphere we are working, we become a source of help and comfort to those around us. When we remain on an even keel, we are able to find solutions, and are open to adjusting and compromising to ensure a peaceful resolution. No longer seeking to rule over or control others, our ego is kept in check, as we don't see ourselves as different from our fellow beings. As we meditate, we experience states of calm, peace and joy. This feeling of tranquility remains with us long after our meditations, and radiates from us to all in our orbit. We are able to stay calm in the face of challenging situations or differences of opinion, not allowing situations to escalate into anger. When we remain on an even keel, we are able to find solutions, and are open to adjusting and compromising to ensure a peaceful resolution. ... Dailyhunthttps://tapas.io/yozkelvozkeeneens11

IPS officer Rajeev Kumar appointed as ADG of criminal investigation department

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) government's move came after the Election Commission (EC)'s letter to transfer the bureaucrats, who held same positions for the last three years, ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections. It may be noted that Kumar was on leave for the day when the full bench of the EC was in the city last month to hold a meeting with the administration officials to supervise preparations. Anuj Sharma, an IPS officer of 1991 batch, who was the ADG (Law & Order), has replaced Kumar as the new Kolkata Police Commissioner. This is the second time Kumar, the 1989-batch IPS officer, faced transfer from the city top cop's post ahead of the polls in the past three years. Ahead of the last Assembly Elections in 2016 Kumar was removed by the EC in April as the Kolkata Police chief following several complaints of phone tapping by the opposition parties including the BJP. Kumar had then become the target of the BJP after two special branch personnel allegedly offered a bribe to its national secretary Rahul Sinha for cattle-smuggling across the Indo-Bangladesh border. After Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee came to power for the second time with a thumping majority, she, however, reinstated Kumar in May in place of his superior Soumen Mitra, also an ADG rank IPS officer of 1988 batch, who was made the police commissioner by the EC. ...
