Indian cuisine ranks among the Top 10 popular cuisines in the world
The survey was conducted among more than 25,000 people in 24 countries about their cuisine preferences. Italian cuisine has come up as the most preferred palate in the world with pizza and pasta cited as the most popular foods in the world. The survey asked people which of 34 national cuisines they had tried and whether they liked or disliked them, with Italian food being the most well-liked. The cuisine received an average popularity score of 84 per cent across the 24 nations. Not surprisingly, the biggest fans of Italian food are the Italians themselves, with 99 per cent enjoying their national cuisine. The other big fans of Italian cuisines include the Spaniards (94 per cent of those who have tried it say they like it) and the French (92 per cent), while the least impressed by Italian food are the Chinese (59 per cent). At second place behind Italian food is Chinese cuisine, which scored on average 78 per cent liking across the countries surveyed. It's liked by 95 per cent of the Chinese people, with Singaporeans (94 per cent of those who have tried it say they like it) and Hongkongers (91 per cent) also particular fans. The cuisine is least popular in Saudi Arabia (54 per cent) and Indonesia (57 per cent). The world's third most popular cuisine is Japanese, scoring an average of 71 per cent across the 24 nations. Aside from the 94 per cent of Japanese people who like it, 94 per cent of Singaporeans and 93 per cent of Hongkongers also like it. Once again it's the Saudi Arabians who are least enamoured, with only 43 per cent enjoying it. At the bottom of the table comes Peruvian cuisine, which received an average score of only 32 per cent. With almost same percentage score, Finnish cuisine comes just below Peruvian cuisine. When it comes to Indian cuisines, although 77 per cent Singaporeans and 70 per cent Malaysians like Indian cuisine, the rest of South East Asia has a lower preference for our dishes. In Indonesia 49 per cent and in Vietnam 44 per cent of those who have tasted Indian food claimed to like it. In Thailand, on the other hand, people hold the Indian cuisine in disdain, with only 27 per cent who tried it stating they like it. However, it is actually China that has the least liking for Indian food, with only 26 per cent saying they like it. Indian cuisine is more warmly received in the European countries, with over half the people saying they like it. It is particularly popular in Britain (84 per cent), Norway (75 per cent), France and Finland (71 per cent). Nearly three quarters (74 per cent) of Australians are fans of Indian cuisine. ... Boeing's safety analysis of 737 MAX flight control had crucial flaws: Report
It has said the 737-MAX certification process followed the FAA's standard certification process. The report also said both Boeing and the FAA were informed of the specifics of this story and were asked for responses 11 days ago, before the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX last Sunday that killed all 157 people on board. The same model flown by Lion Air crashed off the coast of Indonesia in October, killing all 189 on board. Last Monday Boeing said it would deploy a software upgrade to the 737 MAX 8, a few hours after the FAA said it would mandate "design changes" in the aircraft by April. A Boeing spokesman said 737 MAX was certified in accordance with the identical FAA requirements and processes that have governed certification of all previous new airplanes and derivatives. The spokesman said the FAA concluded that MCAS on 737 MAX met all certification and regulatory requirements. ... Dailyhunthttp://rhubarbblue.com/UserProfile/tabid/61/userId/369769/Default.aspx
Let Rahul Gandhi decide on second seat, we will pick one, says Dinesh Gundurao
If Mr Gandhi wishes, it will be a matter of pride for us to offer a seat to him,' he explained. He added that Mr Gandhi will be arriving in the state on Monday and it will be decided then whether he should contest from North-Karnataka or South-Karnataka if at all he decides to contest from the state too. Playing down reports that Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar was upset with state leaders, Mr Rao asserted that Dr Parameshwar was a pan-Karnataka leader and the party does not treat him as a mere Tumakuru leader. 'No doubt he represents Tumakuru, but leaders like Dr Parameshwar or former chief minister, Siddaramaiah cannot be restricted to their home districts. They are all pan-Karnataka leaders. Hence, the party also treats these leaders in that manner,' he said. He however admitted that state leaders were upset with the central leadership's decision to give up the Tumakuru seat to JD(S). "We are making efforts to get back that seat," he added. ... Dailyhunthttps://forums.ubi.com/member.php/3797145-jeenjeeleera

nterview: 'BJP leaders willing to join us; it has to be unconditional'
I
Our target is to reach out to people and give them the same confidence. The fact is that the situation at the centre is worse than the situation in Rajasthan's BJP government. PM Narendra Modi is running the government on catchphrases and assurances, and decision taken by them such as demonetisation and GST had led to a negative impact on people - factories have closed, purchasing power and productivity reduced, there's an increase in unemployment. Agenda of Modi government nationwide is that in name of nationalism and Hindutva communal harmony and brotherhood has been disturbed. If we combine the statement and confusion among the people - BJP's agenda is to change history of freedom and the country with their definition of Hinduism and patriotism, which is creating confusion and sense of insecurity in society. In the past when Congress ruled Rajasthan, the party never won more than 20 Lok Sabha seats. What will change the situation this time? People's confidence and their suffering in last five years. The kind of sentiments are there, border and military actions are politicised to divert people from basic issues. The Modi government has failed on all fronts, be it farmer agony, youth employment, infrastructure (works started and launched during Congress and UPA government were stalled). The intentions of this government were not clear, which adversely affected development. On the other hand, incidents of lynching or killing of bovines were linked with communal agenda. Do you think recent incidents on border will favour BJP? I don't think so. People of the country are intelligent and understand it. This might affect for some time, but not for long. Earlier, Indira Gandhi divided Pakistan, around lakh commander surrendered -what happened recently is country's pride, shouldn't Modi also mention what happened in past by Indira Gandhi? Modi is politicising what happened at the border. This is the concern for everyone. Anyone who attacks our country or freedom, every citizen or political party is united. Is Congress questioning army's action? Nobody is questioning. This is misinterpreted, everything is twisted wrongly. When entire world is asking, it is question on credibility of the country. If some foreign media or leaders are asking to justify as different versions are published (regarding the Balakot air strikes), it is the responsibility of the country and not of a single person to reply. Your government (in the state) has barely been there for three-four months, what do you think has worked in your favour in this short time? The promises made to the people, especially during the election campaign. I think sincerely and honestly, the Congress government has not only tried (to fulfil them) but also on field showed them the decision taken in last two months such as on loan waiver, restart of major infrastructure projects and unemployment allowance. Government is doing its best, which has boosted the party's morale and confidence of people. How many MLAs will be fielded in the LS and new faces? Efforts are on to field best candidates and that include MLAs also. There are many functionaries in the party; target is to field good and winnable candidates, who can serve the nation. The process is on and final discussions will be taken by the Central Election Committee. In general, the trend is that the party introduces new faces on around a dozen seats, will this be continued? What about opportunity to women? Definitely, there will be new faces. Women will also be there. Our efforts are there, but focus is on winning prospect; wherever such women candidates will be, they will be given preference. Is the party expecting some 'export' from BJP? If yes, will they be contesting? There are requests from senior leaders and in coming days you will hear the names. They are joining, but it has to be unconditional. But if the party feels that they can be better candidate, they can be considered. On many instances the CM and Deputy CM had mention about their cordial relations. What is the need to clarify? Because… that is the only thing which media is trying to play in the hands of Modi and BJP for last few years. The way it is played in media every day, they have all the right to clarify their position. What all challenges are you facing for Lok Sabha election? Is it becoming difficult to identify candidates with prominent leaders entering the assembly? People who have been elected as MLA…this is Congress party, we do not have dearth of winnable leaders in every constituency. As they are known faces, people in general have more expectations or confidence, but fortunately in second line there are good leaders, where the senior have role to encourage and promote them. We are playing a balanced role, consulting all leaders and wherever there is winnability by introducing new faces, party can perform better, will be fielded. We are looking at leaders who have worked for the organisation, popular among the people and can serve for long. Dailyhunthttp://www.feedbooks.com/user/5021642/profile
Govt banking on advance tax collection to meet direct tax target of Rs 12 lakh cr However, the clarity on the exact quantum of shortfall would emerge only after the final figure of advance tax collection comes, sources said. Net direct tax collection during April-January of this fiscal stood at Rs 7.89 lakh crore against Rs 12 lakh crore targeted for the entire fiscal. To meet the shortfall, CBDT chairman P C Mody held a meeting with senior tax officials to review collection figures ahead of the deadline of advance tax payment of Friday. Besides, the board has been issuing an advisory asking the taxpayers to pay the fourth and last installment of advance tax for the current fiscal. Under the Income Tax Act, any assessee, including salaried employee whose estimated tax liability for an year exceeds Rs 10,000 needs to pay advance tax. With the tax department staring at the deficit in collection, there are apprehensions that corporates may have to pay more in the last installment and claim refund in the next fiscal. As a result of this, the gap between the target and actual realisation is narrowed for the current fiscal. It is to be noted that the government has been putting on a brave face as far as meeting direct tax collection target is concerned. "On direct taxes, we are reasonably confident of (meeting the target). But on the indirect tax front, there may be some shortfall," Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg said on Thursday. The government in the interim Budget revised customs collection target from Rs 1.12 lakh crore to Rs 1.30 lakh crore. GST collection is pegged at Rs 6.43 lakh crore , which is lower than the targeted Rs 7.43 lakh crore. GST collection, however, is expected to rise to Rs 7.61 lakh crore in next fiscal. ... A year on, sewage continues to flow into Byramangala lake
Most of the sewage from the catchment area of the Valley continues to pollute the lake. A high-powered diesel generator treats 15 MLD of sewage while the rest enters the lake untreated. To treat the proposed sewage by the STP, 4500 Kilo Volt Amperes (max demand a month) is required and that supply has not reached the plant so far. According to a senior Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) official, the required power for the plant was sanctioned for BWSSB over six months ago. "We okayed the supply of 4500 KVA from our 220 KVA receiving station at Rajarajeshwari Nagar to the 220 KVA receiving station at Vrishabhavati Valley. As it is a self-execution project, the supply of electricity from there can flow through only after BWSSB puts in place the necessary infrastructure like Breaker and a 11 KV cable linking it to its STP plant at Kengeri. Permission from the Chief Electrical Inspectorate (CIE) too has to be obtained by the Water Board before we start the supply," he said. A top BWSSB official said that the infrastructure has been laid and the file for approval has been sent to the CIE too. "We hope to run the plant to its full capacity of 60 MLD soon," he said. Officials of KPTCL, BESCOM as well as BWSSB remained tightlipped about the plant still not ready for operation.
