What to wear during your periods

Make sure you don't strangle yourself in tightness. Jeans are your best friend Now, jeans might not be a popular choice during periods. But jeans that aren't skinny fitting or light coloured can come handy. Jeans that fit comfortably will make sure your pad or tampon stays in place. Try prints Stains are a woman's biggest fear during those days of the month. No matter how careful you are there are always some accidents. Try wearing prints to camouflage the occasional leaks. Mind you this is just a contingency plan. Leggings Paired with the right kurta or even a long t-shirt, leggings are almost as comfortable as track pants. If you're conscious of the bulge of pads or the stain scare, match it with a tunic or tops that go past your hips to stay safe. Skip the heels This one is a no-brainer. One could skip the heels even when they aren't on the period but stay away from the stilts during because of the pressure it causes on the lower back which is probably already hurting from cramps. Sporty and sneaky Change your style to sporty for a few days. Pick t-shirt dresses if you have to go for a night out. These will keep you comfortable and will also feel dressy on occasions. Pick joggers and match them with a nice blouse or top to trick people into thinking you're all put together. Cong workers gather outside Rahul Gandhi's residence urging him not to resign

Boxer Vijender Singh, who had fought the Lok Sabha polls from the South Delhi constituency and ended up at the third spot said workers do not want Rahul Gandhi to resign as he is an "able and hardworking" leader. "He has not resigned. We have come to talk to him. He has made an offer to resign but people do not want him to go. "He has worked hard. If the results are not in our favour, it hurts but we are fighters. Nobody else can work like him. He is a leader who takes everyone together," Singh said. Slogans of 'Rahulji, we are with you' and 'Please do not resign' rang through the air. Several workers were carrying placards with Gandhi's photos urging him not to resign. Some workers were even demanding that elections be held again in a fair manner with ballot papers instead of EVMs since the latter could have been tampered. Congress leader Jagdish Tytler said there are millions of Congress workers who do not want Gandhi to resign. "We had to be here because we do not want him to resign. There are millions of Congress workers who do not want him to resign. We are disappointed with the results but not with the leadership," he said. The crisis in the Congress showed no signs of easing with Gandhi sticking to his decision to resign as party chief after its Lok Sabha poll debacle and staying away from meeting party leaders. On Tuesday, Gandhi had only met his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, besides senior party leader K C Venugopal and the Congress's chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot went to meet Gandhi at his Tughlaq Lane residence on Tuesday, but they only met Priyanka. Senior Congress leaders have been pressing Gandhi to take back his decision to resign and revamp the party at all levels in these challenging times. ... When is Diwali 2018?

The main festive night usually coincides with the Hindu Lunisolar month of Kartika in the Bikram Sambat calendar. According to the 'Gregorian calendar', however, Diwali night comes between mid-October and mid-November. Days before Diwali, people clean their houses and workplaces and on the day of the festival they decorate their homes with lights and candles. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on that day as the devotees offer prayers to the goddess of wealth for materialistic abundance and prosperity. Later, fireworks are performed followed by offering sweets and exchange of gifts among families, friends and relatives. The celebrations begin with Dhanteras, followed by 'Narak Chaturdasi' on the second day, Deepawali on Day 3, 'Diwali Padwa', which is dedicated to matrimony, on the fourth day and it all ends with 'Bhai Dooj', dedicated to the sister-brother bond on the fifth day. On Diwali night, Jains celebrate the attainment of salvation by Lord Mahavira, while 'Bandi Chhor Diwas' is celebrated among Sikhs to mark the release of Guru Hargobind Singh from a Mughal emperor. A majority of Buddhists celebrate Diwali by worshiping Laxmi. DailyhuntDisclaimer: This story is auto-aggregated by a computer program and has not been created or edited by Dailyhunt. Mamata to protest civic 'capture'

Chatterjee wasn't present at the time. "This is nothing but unethical capture of the civic body. They locked up my office, vandalised the building," said Chatterjee, who later rushed to Calcutta to meet municipal affairs minister Firhad Hakim. Chatterjee claimed he had not been able to go back home since the Lok Sabha results on May 23. The municipality falls under the Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat, which the BJP snatched from Trinamul this time. The BJP also won the Bhatpara bypoll in the vicinity.Ganesh Das, former chairman-in-council and the first to defect to the BJP, denied Trinamul's allegations. "They (those who stormed the office) are Chatterjee's men who wanted to delete some documents from a laptop in the chairman's office but could not succeed. They managed to takeaway the hard disc of the CCTV cameras to destroy proof of his illegal activities."A complaint has been lodged against the invasion and an inquiry is on, said an officer of Naihati police station. Not just in Naihati, the BJP has also managed to swing neighbouring civic bodies in Bhatpara, Halisahar and Kanchrapara. "All these places have been the backyard of former Trinamul Number Two Mukul Roy. He has been active in engineering these defections," said a Trinamul source. On Tuesday, three MLAs, 60 councillors and some panchayat functionaries joined the BJP. Roy has promised more defections. On Wednesday, Bidhannagar mayor and Trinamul MLA Sabyasachi Dutta took a swipe at party colleague and minister Sujit Bose for not being able to ensure a lead from his area, Bidhannagar, in the Lok Sabha polls. "Those who could not ensure leads are getting rewarded," said Dutta, referring to a ministerial shuffle on Tuesday. Bose was made minister of state in charge of the forest department in addition to his responsibilities as fire services minister. Rahi Sarnobat pockets Olympic quota with gold as Saurabh Chaudhary impresses

China are second with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Asian Games champion Rahi clinched her career's second World Cup gold, which helped India win its sixth quota place in shooting for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In the women's final, another Indian in the fray, Manu Bhaker had a better start than Rahi, having five out of five hits in the first of 10 series of five shots each. Rahi started with three hits. After the sixth series, Manu, Rahi and Olena Kostevych of Ukraine were jointly tied at the top with a score of 21. Manu had an unfortunate double weapon malfunction in the seventh series and that was followed by shock elimination in the fifth place. Rahi, however, kept getting stronger, scoring perfect 5s in the 8th and 9th series to finish with 37 points. Olena bagged silver with 36 and Bulgarian Antoaneta Boneva won the second available quota place by winning the bronze with a score of 26. Earlier, Saurabh had set the ball rolling for India as he not only won the yellow metal but also shattered both senior and junior world records with a score of 246.3. Incidentally, he held both the existing records. Saurabh's previous senior world record shot at Delhi was 245 and the junior world record was at 245.5. Silver medallist Russian Artem Chernousov though had lesser scores in the 9s in the 24-shot final than the Indian. Saurabh beat him by close to three points in the eventual standings. He finished with a superb 246.3 to Artem's 243.8. DailyhuntDisclaimer: This story is auto-aggregated by a computer program and has not been created or edited by Dailyhunt.
