Kangana to add a few kilos to essay Jayalalithaa
'We have also appointed a Tamil teacher for her to learn the language. The story begins from Jaya madam's first film in Kannada Chinnada Kombe when she was 16. It will focus on how Jayalalithaa Amma reigned supreme in a male-dominated world. Her knowledge, wisdom and intelligence were incomparable which made her the Iron Lady that she was. That was my main inspiration to make a biopic on her,' he explained. The Devi director admits that it was his biggest blessing to work with a legend like Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote the screenplay of Kangana's earlier film Manikarnika. 'It gives me immense happiness to work under Vijayendra Prasad's supervision for Thalaivi.' Ask him if Sai Pallavi has been roped in to play Sasikala and he denies, 'No, not at all! Except Kangana, we have not finalised anyone in the cast. The process is still going on. We have brought on board GV Prakash for music and he has already started working on the compositions.' ... Armyman dupes job-seekers of lakhs
ccording to the ratings for the third week of May, the air quality index at Byrnihat was 128 while at Umïam it was 108.On World Environment Day here on Wednesday, board chairman and principal chief conservator of forests C.P. Marak told The Telegraph that the board has formulated an action plan to tackle the air pollution emanating from the Byrnihat industrial area. "But this (action plan) needs to be fine tuned. We will require inputs from Assam. For that, we intend to call a meeting within this month of officials of the pollution control boards and from other departments. We aim to bring the air quality rating from moderate to satisfactory level," Marak said.He said the Assam government's cooperation was required as many industries have come up on the other side of the border. On whether vehicular traffic here was affecting the air quality, he said that people living in the hill areas and where the forest cover is very high have an advantage as the forest offsets the emissions."It is all the more important for us in Meghalaya or an urban area like Shillong to ensure that the green cover is kept in perpetuity. Wherever there is a blank space, we can increase the green cover and wherever it is already green, we can increase the quality of the forests so that the carbon dioxide is absorbed and we get oxygen in return," Marak added. He said Meghalaya has both forest and tree cover of nearly 80 per cent.1.5 million saplingsMeghalaya has planted 1.5 million saplings on a single day. Announcing this on Wednesday, chief minister Conrad K. Sangma wrote on his official Twitter handle: "Happy to announce that #Meghalaya planted today 1.5 million trees. Thank you citizens and all officials and stakeholders for your pledge and support for #OneCitizenOneTree campaign."Earlier, he planted saplings at Lyngkyrdem village in East Khasi Hills district, over 40km from here. Conrad pledged to continue plantation of saplings and "take care of my tree."Earlier, the government had announced planting of one million saplings in about 306 spring sheds across the state. Another 460,000 saplings were to be planted in villages located under 46 community and rural development blocks. The mega plantation drive is part of the "Meghalaya one citizen one tree" campaign.Plantation in the springsheds is a Rs 4.11-crore project under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) as part of the initiative to protect vulnerable springs and rejuvenate their catchments/recharge areas. The project aims to address the challenges and threats to the springs and ensure sustained yield and availability, especially during the dry months. Waterways in Meghalaya are rain-fed and sources of water in rivers and streams are the feeder springs. The initiative to plant saplings is expected to ensure that the catchments of these springs are revived and water discharge from such springs improves.Health minister A.L. Hek, however, has sounded a word of caution. He said the saplings need to be nurtured till they become trees. "We are all concerned about environment and climate change, but we, as citizens, are responsible for emitting carbon dioxide. While we plant saplings, we must ensure that we nurture them as well," Hek said. The principal chief conservator of forests, Meghalaya, C.P. Marak, said nearly two years back the state's forest and environment department had commissioned a study on carbon footprint in the state."The findings say that we have the lowest carbon footprint in the country," he said. Smartphone tech we are dying for is real and it's not from Apple or Samsung
OPPO, a brand that's rapidly making its name for itself as one of the biggest players in the smartphone space along with Xiaomi, a brand in India, that needs no introduction have both flaunted smartphones in the space of a few hours with some technology that we expect to be the standard for years to come. OPPO and Xiaomi have both taken to their social media accounts and teased smartphones with the highly anticipated under-display camera technology. While we have been waiting for the big boys such as Samsung and Apple to probably be the first to come out with this technology; these newer brands have swooped in and show that innovation isn't just reserved for the bigger brands.
For those seeking the perfect, notchless smartphone screen experience &dhndash; prepare to be amazed.

First teased on Weibo by OPPO's VP Brian Shen, and then on Twitter, we see this prototype handset in action that comes with an under-display selfie camera. OPPO states, 'For those seeking the perfect, notchless smartphone screen experience - prepare to be amazed. You are taking a very first look at our under-display selfie camera technology.' The device that has been shown off has been placed in a protective cover but it's pretty obvious that it doesn't come with a notch or a pop-up camera; features which OPPO already have in their arsenal. As of now, there is no word on when the handsets will launch but since vivo and OnePlus belong under the same umbrella, you can expect a future OnePlus device to launch with this technology. Over the past couple of years, OPPO has been at the forefront of tech innovations and have introduced features such as its VOOC fast charging and the periscope camera that can help greatly with zoom capabilities. As is the case with this under-display selfie camera, both those technologies were first a part of prototype teasers that later got mass produced.

Not to be lie in the shadows of OPPO's glory, Xiaomi, a brand that has been one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in the world have also shown off their handset with an under-display camera. The Xiaomi Mi 9 prototype with this feature was shown off by Xiaomi's CEO Lin Bin and in a related tweet, Xiaomi states, 'Do you want a sneak peek at the future? Here you go...introducing you to Under-Display Camera technology!' According to the brand, Xiaomi patented a procedure to make the display transparent without reflecting any light in any way when the screen is black and the diodes are off. While the OLED has to act as a plastic layer, Xiaomi states that they can add a 20MP selfie snapper with athe 5P lens under the screen. While there is no word on when the OPPO and Xiaomi under-display camera handsets will become a reality; it's pretty obvious that the brands are flexing their muscles on the day of the WWDC 2019 keynote in order to take some of the shine off Apple. Also, the situation with Huawei and the US also poses as an advantage to the brands and so is the Samsung Galaxy Fold fiasco that doesn't seem to have an end in sight. With that being said, having a working prototype is one thing and it is something totally different when it comes to mass producing handsets that will be commercially available that fans can appreciate. If the under-display selfie-camera technology isn't as good as what's currently available in regular selfie cameras, then this new tech may fail drastically before it even has a chance to fully take off. ... function catchException() {try{ twitterJSDidLoad(); }catch(e){}} function getAndroidVersion(ua) {ua = (ua || navigator.userAgent).toLowerCase(); var match = ua.match(/android\\s([0-9\\.]*)/);return match ? match[1] : false;}; var versions='4.2.2'; var versionArray=versions.split(',');var currentAndroidVersion=getAndroidVersion();if(versionArray.indexOf(currentAndroidVersion)!=-1){var blocks = document.getElementsByTagName('blockquote'); for(var i = 0; i < blocks.length; i++){blocks[i].innerHTML = '';}}DailyhuntDisclaimer: This story is auto-aggregated by a computer program and has not been created or edited by Dailyhunt. China shadow on local steel prices
However, the sentiment will be weak.In fact, JSW had raised steel prices on Monday but the market is not responding, an official of the company, said. The global headwind comes at a time demand appears to be floundering because of a slowdown in the auto industry and general election, which tempered construction related activities. Moreover, input costs continue to remain high for integrated large players such as Tata Steel, SAIL and JSW among others, who depend on imported coking coal. A combination of these factors will keep margins of Indian steel mills under check."It is hard to predict how the year will pan out as yet since we are just two months into it. Industry will watch budget numbers closely to see if there is any uptick in capital expenditure, which will be positive for steel demand. The impact of US-China trade war will be another key determinant as far as prices are concerned," Jayanta Roy, senior vice-president & group head, corporate sector ratings, ICRA, said.Demand from the auto sector may also revive in the second half if consumers rush to beat the BS-VI deadline of April 2020. Since prices of personal vehicles are expected to go up to meet the new emission norms, there may be a pre buying, leading to demand for flat steel products. The ICRA report notes that there has been a contraction in gross contribution levels of a domestic blast furnace operator by Rs 3,000 a tonne last quarter. In the current quarter, with coking coal prices remaining firm and steel prices under pressure, there may be a further contraction in gross contribution levels by around Rs 400-500 per tonnes more.Domestic steel consumption growth eased to 7.5 per cent in 2018-19 from 7.9 per cent a year ago. The demand growth moderated to 6.4 per cent in April 2019 and is likely to remain lower than last fiscal. Man stabbed to death over illicit affair
AB de Villiers had offered to play World Cup, but Cricket South Africa refused
The report also said that De Villiers had approached Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis, head coach Ottis Gibson and convenor of selectors Linda Zondi, where he expressed his desire to reverse his retirement and play for the team in the World Cup. However, the team management declined his offer. There were two main reasons why the team management decided not to accept de Villiers' offer. First, he had retired in May 2018, exactly a year before the World Cup was scheduled and, therefore, he did not fulfil the selection criteria, which included playing South African domestic cricket or international cricket in the intervening months. Secondly, it was also felt that recalling the 35-year-old would be unfair on the players who had been performing in his absence. Last year, de Villiers had called time on his 14-year international career with immediate effect, stating that he was "tired" and "running out of gas". The revelation has come at a time when South Africa are having a horrid campaign in the ongoing World Cup. They have faced three defeats in the first three matches of the tournament, which included Wednesday's six-wicket loss to India at the Ageas Bowl. In order to remain in contention for a semi-final spot, South Africa need to win all their six remaining games, starting with Monday's clash against West Indies in Southampton.
