Haryana starts plans to develop Gurugram 2.0

The master plan of the new city was being worked out, officials said, with an eye on the year 2040. AECOM had also conducted a kick off and inception meeting of the project in May 2019 which was chaired by Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. 'The new city adjoining Gurugram is a major step towards planned urbanization along the KMP expressway and alleviating pressures on the existing urban centres in the region,'' said an official. Outgoing Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Devender Singh said that the government plans a comprehensive review of the project soon. 'The suggestions of the core group members will be incorporated before the next round of deliberations,'' Singh said. He said the proposed new city adjoining Gurugram was a part of state government's larger plan to set up five cities along the alignment of KMP expressway in the national capital region (NCR). A Panchgram Development Authority will be set up to fast track the projects. The new cities will act as new urban centres and also open opportunities for trade and commerce. 'A draft Bill was presented to the Council of Ministers earlier this year. Following suggestions from the ministers, it is being reshaped and will be put up before the cabinet again,'' Singh said. As per the AECOM report, the planning of the 'Dream City' presented several opportunities that can be leveraged to make it an emerging economic growth centre. 'The new city will be strategically located with direct access from multiple roads and railway network. To make the city livable, adequate land would be earmarked for public facilities and amenities like universities, colleges, schools, institutional areas, public officers, open spaces, forests, stadiums and parks,'' said a Haryana official. Issues like seismic vulnerability, water scarcity, transportation would be kept in mind during the planning stages. Besides, the development and planning strategy would consider the existing villages and towns to ensure a reciprocal relationship between urban and rural areas. The consultant's report said that in the first stage of planning, an extensive process of analyzing baseline data including the physical site survey was carried out. 'The consultants have identified development and no development zones, done land suitability analysis, assessment of potential development and growth directions and prepared three feasible spatial alternatives,'' said an official. Indiabulls Housing Finance loans to DLF, Anil Ambani firms repaid: MCA

A PIL moved by Citizen Whistle Blowers Forum alleges that the group companies of Indiabulls had, through its promoters, 'been advancing dubious loans to companies owned by large corporate groups which in turn have been routing the money back to the accounts of companies owned by the promoters of Indiabulls, so as to increase their personal wealth'. The PIL also alleged that while Anil Ambani-led ADAG had received as much as Rs 1,580 crore in loans and invested Rs 570 crore back in the company and its group firms, DLF had received Rs 1,705.54 crore as loan and invested Rs 66 crore back. Gautam Bhalla-owned Vatika group was loaned as much as Rs 4,600 crore by Indiabulls Housing Finance, the PIL further alleged. The MCA received reports for two investigations ordered against Indiabulls Ventures and Indiabulls Housing Finance on November 15 and 19, respectively, while another report probing alleged irregularities in Indiabulls Real Estate is yet to be submitted, the affidavit to the HC said. The government had in July last ordered an investigation into the dealings of Indiabulls group. In September this year, the HC had agreed to hear the case, and issued notices to Indiabulls, its promoters, as well as the MCA. Indiabulls has maintained that the PIL was a part of a motivated attack on the firm, aimed at causing loss to the company and hampering its day-to-day operations. The PIL, the company had then told the Delhi HC, was 'malicious' and 'mala fide' and that the 'averments made in the petition are a pack of lies motivated by vested interest and has been filed without any research even on publicly available records of the company'. Davis Cup: Russia beat reigning champions Croatia in opener

The 18 nations have been split into six groups of three at the Caja Magica, with the pool winners and two best runners-up to play in the last eight of the first edition of the revamped tournament. The teams face off in two best-of-three-set singles matches and one doubles rubber in each tie. Khachanov and Rublev completed the clean sweep later on Monday with a 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 doubles win over Ivan Dodig and Nikola Mektic. Canada claimed a 2-1 victory over well-fancied Italy to strike first in Group F. World number 12 Fabio Fognini slumped to a 7-6 (7/5), 7-5 defeat by Vasek Pospisil, ranked 150th, before rising star Denis Shapovalov edged out Matteo Berrettini 7-6 (7/5), 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/5). 'I'm really happy to get the win against a player like Matteo who has had such a good season,' said Shapovalov. 'I always love representing my country... It's not often you get to play as a team, so it's amazing.' Italy, who won their only Davis Cup title in 1976, were the favourites in Group F with Fognini and Berrettini both having enjoyed excellent seasons. The 20-year-old Shapovalov saved three set points before snatching the first set in a tie-break, only for Berrettini to level the match in a second-set breaker. A clash without a single break of serve, was decided by another tie-break, with Shapovalov reeling off the last three points to win after two hours and 52 minutes on court. Berrettini and Fognini boosted Italy's hopes of making the quarters with a hard-fought doubles success over Shapovalov and Pospisil, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Canada take on the United States on Tuesday, with Italy facing the Americans the following day. Belgium made a victorious start in Group D with back-to-back singles wins against Colombia. The South Americans are playing at the top level of Davis Cup tennis for the first time, having never played in the old World Group. Steve Darcis saw off Santiago Giraldo 6-3, 6-2, before world number 11 David Goffin had to battle back from a set down to avoid a shock against 194th-ranked Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. But the world number one doubles pairing of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah grabbed a historic win for Colombia by battling past Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-7 (5/7), 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) DailyhuntDisclaimer: This story is auto-aggregated by a computer program and has not been created or edited by Dailyhunt. On whether the government plans to introduce censorship on the content of such online streaming platforms, he said, 'Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has no plans to introduce censorship on the content appearing on online streaming platforms'. KPL scam: ICC says will extend help to CCB probe

Mr Rao alleged that the sudden wealth of some of the cricketers had raised many eyebrows. 'These players would go around in fancy, expensive cars and spend carelessly. Many people were wondering where they got the money from. Here is the answer to that question... Their wealth came from match-fixing,' he said. The players, those arrested and under the scanner, will be investigated thoroughly. Their spending at resorts and their source of money will be probed too, he said. David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne smack centuries in day-night Pakistan Test

Their Adelaide partnership was the highest ever in a day-night Test. "It's a bit surreal at the moment. It was just amazing to be out there with Davey and to just put on a really big partnership," said Labuschagne. "Really happy. We were running hard, I love the intensity of the crease." Warner paid tribute to the maturity of his partner, who is playing in only his 11th Test. "Credit to Marnus for the way he came out and took the bowlers on again, he picked up where he left off at the Gabba," he said. "We're just thrilled to get through that tonight and want to come out tomorrow and put some more runs on the board." Pakistan need to win to square the two-match series. The odds were heavily stacked against them before the game began, having lost 13 consecutive Tests in Australia, and their chances are even slimmer now. Over the years, taking wickets in Australia has been a challenge for Pakistan and they shuffled their bowling attack for the pink-ball Test in a bid to make the most of the conditions. Veteran seamer Mohammad Abbas, who tormented Australia when he took 17 wickets in two Tests in the UAE last October, returned in place of Imran Khan while 16-year-old pace sensation Naseem Shah was rested. That handed a debut to 19-year-old medium-fast right-armer Muhammad Musa, but, like in the first Test at Brisbane, none of them could tame Warner and Labuschagne, with the ball hardly doing anything under the lights to trouble them. After Australian skipper Tim Paine won the toss and chose to bat, Pakistan had a flicker of hope when Joe Burns was out for four, but a stubborn Warner and Labuschagne dug in and they went to tea at 70 for one. - Solid form - The players were forced to remain in the dressing room for an extra two hours from the scheduled resumption due to persistent light drizzle, but when they returned Warner quickly brought up his 31st half-century. The opener got an inside edge for two runs, with his 50 coming courtesy of four careless overthrows -- the first time in five day-night Tests he has passed the mark. He continued to pick off runs, reaching his 23rd Test century with a single off spinner Yasir Shah in a near faultless innings that included 12 fours. It has been a big turnaround for the former Australian vice-captain, who managed just 95 runs in 10 innings during this year's Ashes series in England. At the other end, the impressive Labuschagne quietly went about his business, notching his sixth 50 in his 11th Test with a boundary off Musa. The South African-born right-hander showed solid form during the Ashes, benefitting from a stint with English county side Glamorgan, but he has really come of age against Pakistan. The 25-year-old bagged his second Test ton with a two off Yasir, punching the air in joy after reaching three figures from 169 balls with 14 fours. Earlier, on an overcast afternoon and with the floodlights on from the first ball, Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan's standout bowler, bagged the wicket of Burns. With the ball moving off the seam, he got an edge to Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps and was out for four, with that breakthrough proving to be the only ray of sunshine for the visitors. ...
