Chennai's NDRF rescues 18 dogs from flood-hit Kerala
They then went to Kottayam to rescue 18 dogs from the outdoor of a breeder's house on Sunday. "The residence of the breeder turned into right subsequent to the backwaters and was consequently flooded, with water growing up to 10 toes. The team carried the rescue operation for around hours with the help of a boat. Both the proprietor and the dogs had been moved to relief camps," stated animal activist Shravan Krishnan, part of the crew operating from Chennai. He said that maximum puppies couldn't break out as the kennels were inundated and locked. Unlike Chennai, wherein the rescuers can go to an affected spot at once when they get hold of a name, the crew in Kerala has to depend upon name centres based in Jaipur and Mumbai to provide them the precise details of the rescue. "We observe a case relying on the GPS region and the way deep the water is, as we do no longer have proper rescue system," stated one of the rescuers. As maximum of the affected areas are tough to get entry to, the group is operating with very little food, and sleep on the pavement or internal a automobile. The rescued animals are either reunited with their owner or sent to rescue camps, as they did in Kottayam. Stray animals are handled and left at the Centre-operated relief camps. The group is currently in Chengannur to hold the subsequent rescue. Meanwhile, in Chennai, activists are collecting relief material inclusive of cattle fodder, dog and cat food to be sent to Kerala.
