The LJP's parliamentary board had on Tuesday decided that Paswan would represent the party in the government while his son, Chirag, would be the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha.Paswan was the food and consumer affairs minister in the outgoing government. This time he is said to be lobbying for a more "meaningful" berth in the cabinet. Paswan, too, has been a railway minister in the past. Given the enormity of the Modi-led BJP's mandate, it's unlikely the allies can push beyond a point in securing berths of their choice.
