No respite from rain, it's floods again in N-K
With heavy rain battering Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkot and Vijaypur districts, traffic has been suspended on the state highway between Hubballi and Vijayapur and the road in Konnur is being dug up by the locals to prevent the village from being flooded. Many villages of Ramdurg taluk have been cut off and the water from the overflowing Malaprabha river has entered Hampiholi, Sunnal, Sureban and other parts. Several houses and bridges have been submerged and the standing crop destroyed in Yadawad village of Mudalagi taluk. Water has entered the tahasildar's office in Mudhol and the police headquarters in Lokapur town of Bagalkot district. The Yavagal-Nargund bridge has been submerged in Ron taluk by the overflowing Bennehalla stream. As the primary health centre in Javur village, Navalgund taluk has also gone under water, arrangements have been made to provide health services in the gram panchayat building. People of Lakhamapur village in Nargund taluk, Gadag district, have fled taking their cattle with them as it has turned into an island thanks to the overflowing Malaprabha river. Many villages have also been cut off in Vijayapur district due to the overflowing Doni river.
